From Kedah to Kurung...

This makcik must really learn to post regularly! Exam week is super draggy and when I thought my son should be studying, why is it that I feel as if I am studying for his exams. Now need to let it go.. let it go.. oops sorry accidentally sing.. I need to tell myself it is not my exams. haahaha...

Now I am gonna write about the Baju Kurung.. this is retro style ok.. with chest patch pocket some more. hehe... I like people to think that BK is versatile enough to be worn everyday. Ya lah like all the last time makciks wear. But seriously with the right skirt, a person can run, climb and jump as well as perform all sorts of wonders in a BK (sounds like a clown eh.. heheh)! This tried and tested by yours truly (I have 3 stooges of course what I wear must be able to transform into active wear) ^^. Of course, not forgetting the appropriate shoes. If you choose to go for heels then forget it, it will only get stuck in the drain and you end up not chasing after the stooges (busy pulling out the shoes from the drain).. haha! Here I am pleased to don a beautiful BK by Petite Dress Boutique with their lovely choices of fabric (no joke!can choose fabrics!).. very comfy and most importantly, cool enough for everyday wear. Well, Ummi's happy when she's comfy (^^,)

Here I share the look and you can see the prints I chose.. Ok, always post headless pics but when you do when you are just so shy (like real!).. hahaha...

Inspired by my late grandma, Hajah Zainab aka Mak Jenab

Ok now makcik got to go and make crunchy crabstick (how to diet like this?!).. just know that "I"LL BE BACK!!" (how got impact or not? hehe)

KedMono from My Lemari

Wahh!!! It's seriously been quite sometimes. This ahjumma is super busy with 2 stooges down with fever, cough and flu (the vomiting part is like a "topping" that comes with the combo). Then after that is all about preparing my ala "praying mantis" boy for his very first CA1. Good luck to him though he's been chill about it while his ummi is having a terrible migraine. Exam fever strikes again??!! Aaarrrghhhh...

Ok my week has been eventful enough for this simple stay home ahjumma. Now all 3 stooges are healthy so this ahjumma gets to go out. Yippi ai yay!!!!

 See fav KedMono top again..

So grab my fav KedMono (previously called Kedah top but I changed it because of its sleeves) and this time pair it with my denim skirt and toe socks (don't mind the red fingers, they're henna not blood. haha.. cheeky lah this ahjumma). I absolutely love this KedMono!! The fabric has this ethnic look and the sleeves has this really gorgeous weaved motifs. Absolutely unique!

Well, you most probably go " Ah, she's an ahjumma so her taste very the makciks". Hmmm.. fashion has no makciks or aunties style ok. There's many way to style this KedMono.. it can be formal and casual. A versatile piece I must say  with a traditional touch. So be daring and take up the challenge to make a statement. Jia You!!!

Enough with the KedMono pose.. now time to entertain my lil ones with their good morning song and fruit salad yoga poses. Hahahah... I am so going to do the fruit salad yoga pose in my KedMono!! Annyeong!!!

Go Check It Out!!!

The Kedah Top Ahjumma Out & About

Been a long time definitely. Well, writing a blog is never easy. Last week was super hectic with 2 kiddos down with gastric flu and then ummi got it. A chance for this ahjumma to rest but no.. a SAHM work is never done and no resting. Baked and did some revision with my eldest while looking online for the perfect material for my design inspired by Chinese New Year. Hahaha... so festive!

Yesterday, I think my Mr Moon saw how his poor wife sort of like "shrivelled"  at home so  he suggested us to take a walk. Guess where?.. To the supermarket to buy some groceries and of  course butter.. hahaha..

Ok back to the main point. I am ever so  crazy about baju Kedah. And so I wore it out and about paired with my Skirzo (which is actually skirt and palazzo combined).

My 1st self-designed Kedah top with Skirzo

My very own self-designed Kedah top using the traditional Ikat Fabric from Indonesia. I managed to liaise with a really friendly lady to produce this top. So airy and comfy. No chance for my armpits to sweat ok.. hahha.. and the skirzo is from this really nice lady (yes I met nice ladies when I shop online.. haha). So comfy, I can run and jump and walk super fast (a must for an ummi with 3 stooges). Totally my style yah.. modest comfy casual..

Reviving the "Old"

Nothing beats the look of  "Golden" age. The style and overall look is indescribable. So don't ever discard the still good Baju Kurung top and such belonging to the "Golden" generation. Just pair it up with a skirt or batik and a pair of cool Converse sneakers and you are good to go! Fusion of the old and new.. cool right?! Can run, climb, hide and there's pocket to stuff all "stuffs" in.. hehe..

See... now all set to chase after my "kenits" in my late grandma's Kasa Rubiah Kurung top and my own sarung Batik paired with sneakers.

The "Golden" years Baju Kurung cutting is unlike now where everything is modernised. This particular top was personally hand sewn by my late grandma, Nenek Nab. It was carefully cut out without using any pattern drafts. The neck was meticulously hand sewn using the "Tulang Belut" stitch. This makes it all the more special. So.. go find the old and revive it!
